The unique taste of our gin is based on the seven botanicals Moroccan Mint, classic juniper, citrus peel of orange, pink grapefruit, lemon and lime, and coriander. We have these distilled individually at the gates of Hamburg and then combine their flavors for you in Skin Gin.
Our handpicked botanicals
Since the beginning, we pay attention to our botanicals for the best quality and an impeccable origin to be able to guarantee you the highest enjoyment. The Moroccan Mint for our gin grows in the best cultivation areas in Morocco and the carefully selected juniper berries come from the Lüneburg Heide. The oranges and pink grapefruits ripen fully under the Andalusian sun, while the coriander seeds have the longest journey to us from Vietnam. Italian limes and lemons round out our list of ingredients. Only fully ripened and particularly aromatic fruits pass our strict selection criteria.
Our traditional copper still
We first create a single spirit from each botanical in several complex steps. Using a traditional copper still, we manage to extract from each ingredient nearly 100 percent of the essential oils that are the carriers of flavor. From the hand-picked mint leaves, this results in a particularly intense distillate. We also obtain particularly soft aromas from the juniper berries by macerating them and distilling them several times. In the case of citrus fruits, we use only the fruit peels and extract their aromas via the spirit basket. Last but not least, we dedicate ourselves to coriander seeds.
Our flavors and their flavor composition
We then combine the spirits of the seven botanicals. The main note Moroccan Mint gives our gin its intensely fresh taste and dominates the spicy-smooth juniper distillate and the warm-spicy notes of coriander. This blend is perfectly complemented by the intense Mediterranean fragrance and the fruity sweetness of oranges. Bittersweet aromas are brought by the pink grapefruits, which are lightened by fresh-floral notes of the lemons. The pleasant mild acidity of the limes rounds out the composition.
